What is dwarfism? 

Little People of America (LPA) defines dwarfism as a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4'10" or shorter, among both men and women, although in some cases a person with a dwarfing condition may be slightly taller than that.

Are all cases of dwarfism the same?

No. There are over 400 forms of dwarfism. The most common form of dwarfism is called achondroplasia. 

Can anyone have a baby with dwarfism?

Yes! 80% of people with dwarfism are born to average-height parents.

What are physical characteristics of dwarfism?

Characteristics of dwarfism include larger heads with prominent foreheads, shorter arms and legs, flattened nasal bridge and extra space between the middle and ring fingers also known as “trident hand”.

Does everyone with dwarfism look the same?

No, just like average-height people, people with dwarfism have their own special characteristics that make them unique.
